Special Education DepartmentTHS Special Education Department serves approximately 400 students. These students receive support services extending the continuum of services: consultation to full-time special education programming. Students are involved in all school activities including clubs, plays, varsity sports, academic competitions, student council, band, orchestra, and choir. Common programming opportunities include: test reading, assignment assistance, study skill instruction, collaboration courses, group counseling employment specialist support, in-school work, out-of-school work, community-based instruction and service learning. Students, parents/guardians, teachers, psychologists, guidance counselors , respective specialists and administrators work together to design a plan for each individual at least annually at the student's annual case review. This plan includes an individualized education plan and a transition plan to address post secondary goals.
