Science Department

Welcome to the Terre Haute South Science Department! The Terre Haute South Vigo Science Department consists of 15 faculty members and 2000 students learning and working together in the areas of astronomy, biology, botany, chemistry, earth science, physiology, physics, and zoology. All classes are laboratory based and our faculty uses a variety of instructional methods to accommodate the needs and goals of all of our students. Advanced placement credit may be earned in the areas of biology, chemistry, and physics. Collaborative courses are offered in the areas of biology and earth science. The Science Department sponsors several academic competitions that are available to all of our students. The Regional, State, and International Science Fairs and Symposium provide our students with the opportunity to do independent scientific research. The Science Olympiad Team provides a hands-on academic competition that includes all areas of science. The JETS-TEAMS competition is an academic competition in the areas of science and engineering. Other academic competitions include the Science Super Bowl Team, Science Bowl, and Knowledge Masters Grade 9. If you or your student would like more information about our curriculum, any of our activities, or if you would like to volunteer your time to help with our department, please contact Mrs. Melanie Huber, Science Department Chairperson, at 462-4513 or email mbh2@vigoschools.org
