Family and Consumer Science Department

The curriculum in the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) area is designed to meet the needs of a diverse student population and teaches necessary skills that will serve students throughout their lives. All FACS programs guide students to improve life skills and relationships with persons around them.

FACS courses now focus on preparing students with marketable skills they can successfully use to gain employment before, during, and after college. All programs provide career education and opportunities for service learning and mentoring.

All of the courses offer integrated essential skills and help improve other academic skills such as language arts, computer technology, communication, library research, math, and science. Students of various learning abilities are encouraged to take courses in FACS. Collaborative teachers work in classrooms to provide help and support for students with special needs.
