  1. ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Any student who is interested in a paid student study abroad experience for a summer, semester or year abroad to lean one of these “strategic” languages: Arabic, Persian, Mandarin, Hindi, Korean, Russian, and Turkish, please see Ms. Lambert in room 114.  Applications are due before December 4.

Any student, regardless of whether you are in a Club B, who would be interested in helping out South’s environmental/recycling club, the Ecocitizens, please sign up with Ms. Jarvis, room 107 or Ms. Lambert, room 114 and help make a difference.  New things are coming in the new year!

Congratulations to the South Spell Bowl team for placing eighth in the state finals on Saturday, November 14th.  The competition was fierce, and the South Braves did their best.  Three spellers, Zahin Haque, Eesha Purohit, and Angela Song, had perfect rounds, and one speller, Cindy Himes, had a nearly perfect round.  The other speller bees who contributed to the overall score were Allie Crume, Alicia McDonald, Beth McDonald, Carly McDonald, Kasi Oxendine, and Stephanie Thiede. 

Army JROTC canned food drive:  Operation Food for Thanksgiving II will run through November 25, 2009.  Collection barrels are located in four locations around the school.  Please place your non-perishable food items in the barrels.  All food collected will be delivered to the Lighthouse Mission on Wednesday, November 24th.  Please with JROTC make this a great food drive.  We collected 815 pounds of food last year, let’s try to top 1000 pounds this year!

  1. GUIDANCE OFFICE NEWS::

Ivy Tech Community College is coming on November 24th for registration of students for the fall semester of 2010-2011.  Students come by the Guidance Office and give us your name so you can take advantage of this great opportunity.

Honey Creek Garden Scholarship is in the Guidance Office.  The deadline is March 30th.

Ivy Tech Community College will be at THS on November 24th for students to register.   Please come by the Guidance Office and give them your name. 

The Wabash Valley Community Foundation Scholarship application is now available on-line and in the guidance office.  Check out the scholarship page on the Guidance web site to apply for the “Lilly”.   

The Gongaware Scholarship through ISU is available in the guidance office.  Please come by the guidance Office if you want to be nominated.

Elks Scholarship for Elks Families:  To be eligible you must be a child or grandchild of a living Elks member and a high school senior.  Applicants must apply online only at www.elks.or/enf/scholars & must take the SAT test by December 31, 2009.
