Terre Haute North Special Education Department
The Special Education Department is devoted to providing services for students with disabilities. These services have a vast range. All students with an (IEP) Individual Educational Plan are assigned a teacher-of-record. This teacher conducts conference(s), monitors progress, and attends to all issues related to the student’s success. The degree of teacher contact with students also varies. Students may be on consultation, resource, part-time, or full-time basis. Courses for special needs students may be delivered via collaborative style with a general education teacher and special education teacher or in a more self-contained setting where a special education teacher is supported by a teacher assistant. The Special Education Department is firmly committed to providing the best possible opportunity for each child to be successful. We intend for our students to be well prepared for life as they exit North Vigo High School. Cooperation and communication are hallmarks of the department.
Mission Statement: The Special Education Department constantly strives to meet the diverse needs of students on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
