Designed as the first physical education class, the class includes six (6) weeks of swimming, and six (6) weeks of team and individual games, and an introduction to the fitness center. Completion of swimming is a requirement of the course. The activities are organized so students can enjoy them as adults. Participation will help students improve their general fitness and skills levels. [Back]

Prerequisite: Secondary P. E. I
Students may select 2 formats. Component A consists of physical conditioning and weight training. Component B consists of individual activities like racquetball, wall-climbing, rappelling, and outdoor adventure. [Back]

ELECTIVE P. E.
(Advanced Physical Conditioning)

Grades 10 - 12
Prerequisite: B average in Secondary PE I & II Aerobics P 00911
This class is designed for students interested in a good cardiovascular workout and muscular endurance. It's a lifelong activity. No previous experience needed. Examples of activities would include step aerobics, and Tae Bo. This class is conducted in the wrestling room to reduce the impact on joints. [Back]

This course is designed for the students wishing to improve their fitness level or strength. They plan their own program which includes cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, endurance, total body composition, weight management, and muscular strength. The class is conducted in the Fitness Center and a student progress is evaluated on improvement. [Back]

LIFE GUARDING

The purpose of the class is to certify students in ARC Life guarding, CPR-for the Professional Rescuer, and Standard First Aid. A portion of the class will be to upgrade swimming ability and fitness levels. [Back]

RACQUETBALL

Students must provide their own racquet and eye protection. Class will focus on the rules, strategies and skills of racquetball. The class will play both 1 and 4 wall games. Weekly, the class will play at Indiana State University. [Back]

HEALTH

Grade 9

Health is a one-credit course required for high school graduation. The information presented is to be used in conjunction with physical education courses to promote long term health lifestyles. Subjects covered in this course include units in first aid, mental health, stress, nutrition, drugs, smoking, and non-infectious diseases as well as AIDS, and other infectious diseases. [Back]
