Your attendance window will be available from 7:30-8:00 a.m. to drop off notes and obtain permits to leave. We will be issuing tardy passes beginning at 8:25 a.m. Please do not use our passing periods to obtain permits to leave. Thanks and have a great year.
6. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Any girl not participating in a fall sport is invited to basketball open gyms and weight lifting starting on Monday, August 23th at 3:30 p.m. in the Auxiliary gym. Open gym will continue on every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Pre-Season conditioning for girls’ basketball will begin on Friday September 24th at 3:30 on the track. It will continue every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until team try-outs. Try-outs for all teams will begin on Monday, October 25th from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Main gym. If you have any questions please talk to Coach Allen in Room 145.
7. ISU COLLEGE CHALLENGE PROGRAM
Students who are currently enrolled in college challenge course and intend to earn credit through ISU should bring their completed forms to Mrs. Zwerner in the main office by the end of the day on September 7. If you have any questions, please see your counselor.
8. KEY CLUB
Any young man who is interested in community and school service is invited to pick up an application for Key Club from Mr. Utterback in room 105. Key Club performs at least one service project each month for either the school or the community. Applications are located in a folder outside of Mr. Utterback’s room.
9. DETENTIONS
AM Detentions are held in Room 141 7:35-8:05. Mrs. Eisman has PM detentions in the Library 3:30-4:00 or 3:30-4:30.
10. FRESHMAN LINK CREW SOCIAL
There will be a freshman tailgating social sponsored by Link Crew next Friday, September 3, at 6:00 by the football field. Wear your North shirt and attend the game—Go North!!
11. FRESHMAN SENATE
Mrs. McNeely is starting a freshman senate, if you are a freshman and interested we are having a meeting Friday, September 3rd at 7:45 am in room 144. We will be discussing freshman shirts and fundraising ideas. Please come out and help support the freshman class, let’s make it a great year!

Any student interested in having input and sharing opinions on issues concerning students and activities at North High School should sign up in the Main Office to be a part of the Principal’s Advisory Council. The council has been created by Mrs. Mason and will be led this year by Student Council President, Allie Mongar. The council will meet at least three times this school year during the school day and may meet more often outside of the school day if necessary. Students will be appointed to the council. If you are interested, please sign-up in the Main Office through next Friday, August 27th. Students will be appointed to the committee shortly thereafter.

Thursday, August 26th and Friday, August 27th students can purchase a milkshake with two canned goods. Toppings will be extra. The canned goods will go to support the County Commissioner’s food drive. Thanks to the Academic Booster Club for their support of the Food Drive.
13. STUDENTS: EXPECTATIONS FOR THE NORTH VS. SOUTH FOOTBALL GAME
A reminder to everyone attending the North/South football game:
• There will be no loitering under the stadium bleachers. You will be asked one time to return to your seat.
• No body and face paint allowed.
• No silly string in the premises.
• You are expected to adhere to all of the dress codes imposed at TH North.
• There will be a separate entrance for pre-sale tickets.
• At the conclusion of the game no spectators will be allowed on the field.
• In case of bad weather please listen for announcements.

6. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Any girl not participating in a fall sport is invited to basketball open gyms and weight lifting starting on Monday, August 23th at 3:30 p.m. in the Auxiliary gym. Open gym will continue on every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Pre-Season conditioning for girls’ basketball will begin on Friday September 24th at 3:30 on the track. It will continue every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until team try-outs. Try-outs for all teams will begin on Monday, October 25th from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Main gym. If you have any questions please talk to Coach Allen in Room 145.
7. SIGN-UPS
There are sign-ups for the Freshman Class Officers and Court Candidates and the Junior Secretary. If you would like to run sign-ups are in the Main Office thru Tuesday, 24th.
8. PRINCIPAL ADVISORY COUNCIL
Any student interested in having input and sharing opinions on issues concerning students and activities at North High School should sign up in the Main Office to be a part of the Principal’s Advisory Council. The council has been created by Mrs. Mason and will be led this year by Student Council President, Allie Mongar. The council will meet at least three times this school year during the school day and may meet more often outside of the school day if necessary. Students will be appointed to the council. If you are interested, please sign-up in the Main Office through next Friday, August 27th. Students will be appointed to the committee shortly thereafter.
9. DETENTIONS
AM Detentions are held in Room 141 7:35-8:05. Mrs. Eisman has PM detentions in the Library 3:30-4:00 or 3:30-4:30.
10. SWIMMING
There will be a meeting Thursday, August 26th in the pool area for anyone interested in swimming and diving and is not in a fall sport.
11. ISU COLLEGE CHALLENGE PROGRAM
Students who are currently enrolled in college challenge course and intend to earn credit through ISU should bring their completed forms to Mrs. Zwerner in the main office by the end of the day on September 7. If you have any questions, please see your counselor.
12. MILKSHAKES FOR CANNED GOODS
Thursday, August 26th and Friday, August 27th students can purchase a milkshake with two canned goods. Toppings will be extra. The canned goods will go to support the County Commissioner’s food drive. Thanks to the Academic Booster Club for their support of the Food Drive.

A reminder to everyone attending the North/South football game:
• There will be no loitering under the stadium bleachers. You will be asked one time to return to your seat.

ISU will hold their Summer Honors program for academically talented high school students from July 18 through 24. Students will live on campus, earn one college credit, and study a subject of their choice with ISU's faculty. There are 14 different seminars. To qualify, a student must have completed their freshman, sophomore, or junior year by June, 2010, and have maintained at least a "B" average and have a letter of recommendation by their teacher, counselor, or principal.
There are more benefits to the program. To find our more, stop by the Guidance office or go to the website at www.indstate.edu/experience for an online application. The application deadline is May 14 and the seminars fill up fast. We also have applications in the Guidance Office.

We have recently posted many of our local scholarships, such as the Pamela Hiquet Speech & Drama, Jennifer Dunham Journalism, Robert Fiess Mathmatics, and Carl Riddle to name just a few. These scholarships are open to North seniors only so please apply for those that you qualify!
7. SUMMER SCHOOL
This year there will be one Summer School session meeting Mondays through Thursdays, 8:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., June 7 through July 6. It will be held at West Vigo High School and bus transportation will be available leaving from North, Woodrow Wilson, Chauncey Rose, and Otter Creek. Please stop by the Guidance Office front desk or see your counselor for an application. You will need to return the completed form with the $10.00 enrollment fee by Friday, May 14.
8. MISS CIRCLE CITY CLASSIC CORONATION
The Guidance Office has received applications for the Miss Circle City Classic Coronation, which is tentatively scheduled for September 26 in Indianapolis. This program is one of the many events leading up to the annual Circle City Classic Football Game. It is designed to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of young women in the African American community and to select Miss Circle City Classic.
This is NOT a beauty contest. Participants must be a graduating senior during the 2010-2011 school year and have at least a 2.7 GPA. Academics, attendance, church and community involvement, cooperation with others, and communication skills are only some of the areas in which participants are evaluated.
If you qualify to enter this competition, stop by the Guidance Office for your application. Applications and current transcripts are due by June 4.

Union Hospital Health Group will once again sponsor the Summer Teen Volunteer program for youth 14 to 18 years of age. The program begins June 7 and ends August 11 and is an excellent way to gain experience in a hospital setting by volunteering in areas of medical/technology fields.

6. SUMMER HONORS PROGRAM
ISU will hold their Summer Honors program for academically talented high school students from July 18 through 24. Students will live on campus, earn one college credit, and study a subject of their choice with ISU's faculty. There are 14 different seminars. To qualify, a student must have completed their freshman, sophomore, or junior year by June, 2010, and have maintained at least a "B" average and have a letter of recommendation by their teacher, counselor, or principal.
There are more benefits to the program. To find our more, stop by the Guidance office or go to the website at www.indstate.edu/experience for an online application. The application deadline is May 14 and the seminars fill up fast. We also have applications in the Guidance Office.
7. SENIORS
Please check out the latest Scholarship Listing from the Guidance Department. You may pick up a copy in the Guidance Office or find it on-line on North's guidance webpage. We have recently posted many of our local scholarships, such as the Pamela Hiquet Speech & Drama, Jennifer Dunham Journalism, Robert Fiess Mathmatics, and Carl Riddle to name just a few. These scholarships are open to North seniors only so please apply for those that you qualify!
8. SUMMER SCHOOL
This year there will be one Summer School session meeting Mondays through Thursdays, 8:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., June 7 through July 6. It will be held at West Vigo High School and bus transportation will be available leaving from North, Woodrow Wilson, Chauncey Rose, and Otter Creek. Please stop by the Guidance Office front desk or see your counselor for an application. You will need to return the completed form with the $10.00 enrollment fee by Friday, May 14.
9. MISS CIRCLE CITY CLASSIC CORONATION
The Guidance Office has received applications for the Miss Circle City Classic Coronation, which is tentatively scheduled for September 26 in Indianapolis. This program is one of the many events leading up to the annual Circle City Classic Football Game. It is designed to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of young women in the African American community and to select Miss Circle City Classic.
This is NOT a beauty contest. Participants must be a graduating senior during the 2010-2011 school year and have at least a 2.7 GPA. Academics, attendance, church and community involvement, cooperation with others, and communication skills are only some of the areas in which participants are evaluated.
If you qualify to enter this competition, stop by the Guidance Office for your application. Applications and current transcripts are due by June 4.

11. SUMMER TEEN VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Union Hospital Health Group will once again sponsor the Summer Teen Volunteer program for youth 14 to 18 years of age. The program begins June 7 and ends August 11 and is an excellent way to gain experience in a hospital setting by volunteering in areas of medical/technology fields.
If you are interested, stop by the Guidance Office and pick up an application. They must be turned in by May 24.
12. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Vigo County Public Library is looking for teen summer volunteers . If you are interested please call VCPL at 232-1113 ext 2294 or stop by the THN library and pick up a flyer.
13. FITNESS CENTER ANNOUNCEMENT:
Any student-athletes working out in the Fitness Center, or playing basketball, must be supervised by a coach. You must make prior arrangements with the coach. Coaches who are supervising their team or individuals have been asked not to supervise anyone they don’t know. The administration will be inspecting the Fitness Center and gyms everyday to enforce our policies. Thank You for your cooperation!
14. ATTENTION JUNIOR ATHLETES:
Just a reminder for any junior planning to participate in athletics at a Division I or II college that you need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center and have the registrar from North send your transcript to them. Please see Ms. Pair in guidance for further details. You should register by the end of your junior year.
15. SENIOR SHIRTS FOR 2011
The Class of 2011 is selling senior shirts for next year in Room 202. The cost for a shirt is $10.00. Shirts will be on sale starting today until Friday, May 21.
16. JOB OPPORTUNITY-SUMMER
Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods is looking to hire 17-18 year olds for summer employment from now until August. Need to be able to lift 40-45 lbs. Rate is $7.37/hour. Contact Judy Body at 535-2875 for more information.

21. FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS
Anyone interested in hosting an exchange student, next school year, please contact Mrs. Cantin in room 130. The school must be notified by June 9, no January placements will be made! Choose to host a student from one of 23 countries for five months or ten months. Open your heart and home to an exchange student next year and make our school a better place!

The Terre Haute Humane Shelter received a big donation over the weekend thanks to the efforts of some second period classes here at Terre Haute North. Thanks to the classes of Mrs. Lough, Mrs. Sobieski, Mrs. Haynes in foreign language, Mrs. Cole, runner-up Mrs. Cantin, and winners of the penny war, Mrs. Ireland's class! Mrs. Sponsler's advanced speech class donated your hundreds of pounds of supplies, plus 157 dollars and 88 cents to the shelter. We appreciate your participation!
