Comments were received from Mrs. Theresa Holsten and Mr. Larry Faulkner
Mr. Shike expressed concern regarding the way many people refer to Zero
Tolerance. He noted that the only Zero Tolerance that we have is with weapons, and certain dealings with drugs. Mr. Shike stated that we have rules and suspensions, but Zero Tolerance is involvement with weapons and/or drugs.
Mr. Orr presented a brief overview of the Zero Tolerance Policy and suspensions.
Mr. May suggested that it might be a good idea to review our discipline policies to be sure they are stating what is really wanted.
Mr. Tanoos noted he was in agreement with Mr. Shike in that many times the term Zero Tolerance is overused to umbrella situations when actually they are not Zero Tolerance issues. He commented that this summer the administration will look again at suspension issues.
Mr. Tanoos commented that the Greater Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce donated the Terre Haute Crossroads of America books to each Board Member.
