SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS

 

            The Board of School Trustees shall officially transact all business at a legally constituted meeting of the Board which shall be open for the attendance of all interested persons.  The Board shall convene all meetings promptly at the appointed hour.  The Board shall hold various types of public meetings, including:

 

1.         Regular Meetings -- the usual official legal action meeting held twice each month on dates and times to be established by the Board at its reorganization meeting in January.

 

2.         Special Meetings -- an official legal action meeting called by the School Board President or by the Superintendent of Schools upon 72 hours written notice in accordance with the provisions of Indiana law.  Board members may waive the requirement of such notice by the attendance at a Special Meeting or by execution of a written waiver of notice, which shall be incorporated into the minutes of such Special Meeting.

 

3.         Conference Sessions -- a background session called to acquaint the Board of School Trustees with information concerning any phase of the operation of the school district.  No official action shall be taken at conference sessions.

 

            In addition to public meetings, the Board may meet in Executive Sessions for the purposes and in accordance with the provisions of Indiana law.  These meetings shall be closed to the public and the press.  No motions may be made and no votes may be taken at these Executive Sessions.
