SCHOOL ATTORNEY
The Board of School Trustees recognizes that the increasing complexity of school operation frequently requires procurement of professional legal services. Consequently, it shall retain an attorney for purposes of systemically securing such services. A contract which stipulates the extent of the services offered and/or required and the compensation governing said services shall be prepared and reviewed annually by the Board of School Trustees and the School Attorney.
A decision to seek legal advice or assistance
in behalf of the School Corporation shall normally be made by the Superintendent
of Schools or by persons specifically authorized to do so by the Superintendent.
Such action shall occur as it is consistent with approved School Corporation
Policy or standard practice and meets an obvious need of the School Corporation.
It may also take place as a consequence of formal School Board direction.
