SCHOOL CORPORATION LEGAL STATUS

The legal status for education in the Vigo County School Corporation is vested in the will of the people as expressed in the Constitution of the State, the statues pertaining to education, court interpretation of the validity of these laws and the powers implied in them.

The official name of the school corporation shall be: VIGO COUNTY SCHOOL CORPORATION.

Type of School Corporation

The entity shall be a reorganized school corporation as reflected by the plan for the Reorganization of Vigo County Schools as submitted by the Vigo County School Reorganization Committee, said plan having been amended by action of the Board of School Trustees of Vigo County during 1976 and approved by the General Commission on Education of the State Board of Education in meeting held July 7, 1976.

Territorial Extent of the School Corporation

The Vigo County School Corporation shall consist of the entire area of what is generally known as Vigo County, Indiana.
