Each year Fuqua Elementary collects and analyzes data as a part of the SchoolWide Program (SWP). The Schoolwide Program data is reviewed to determine whether our school is meeting the required elements for a Title I Schoolwide Program under federal law 107-110, The NO Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
A collaboration of special education and K-5 teachers, along with Title I reading teachers meet to discuss, organize, modify, and analyze data which is included in the Summative Assessments (English/Language Arts, Writing, and Math).
Various assessments are used throughout the year to assess student progress. The assessments administered in the area of reading are the following: The Observation Survey, (grades K-1 and special education), The Analytical Reading Inventory (ARI), (grades 1-5 and special education), and the McGraw Hill unit tests (grades K-5 and special education). A writing prompt is administered in the fall and in the spring to assess our students' ability to respond, in writing, to a given prompt using language conventions (mechanics) and writing development. In the area of math, we administer the Math Performance Assessment in the fall and spring. The Terra Nova is administered to the second and third graders. The ISTEP+ is administered to third, fourth, and fifth grade students.
Each year we strive to attain our benchmarks per grade level in the areas of English/Language Arts, Writing and Math.
