May/June 2007

Tuesday, May 1 – There will be at PTO Fish Fry Work Meeting at 6:00. Please plan to help prepare the games and baskets for the upcoming Fish Fry.

Fourth grade students will be taking an afternoon field trip to see a special play presentation.

Fifth grade classes will be taking a field trip to the Swope Art Gallery.

Wednesday, May 2 First grade classes will be taking a field trip to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. This is an extended day field trip. They will arrive back at Fuqua at 4:00pm.

Fifth grade students who will be going to Honey Creek next year will be visiting their new school.

Mrs. Harris is “chef” at Wendy’s from 4-7 p.m. This month Miss Oricks & Mrs. Klotz will be helping. Please help support them by eating your dinner at Wendy’s.

Thursday, May 3 . – Mrs. Fuhrer’s class will be visiting their Friends for Life for an end of the year picnic at Meadows Manor North.

Friday, May 4 - Fuqua’s PTO will sponsor a Jonah Fish Fry from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Adult tickets are $6.50 and children twelve (12) and under are $3.50. There will be a basket raffle, games, and lots of fun in the BIGGER Bounce House.

Fuqua’s “Battle of the Books” Team will travel to Meadows Elementary for an inter-school competition.

Spirit Day—Purple & Gold Day!!

Tuesday, May 8 - Mrs. Smith, our P.E. teacher, has planned a field trip for fourth and fifth grade students to play tennis at Rea Park.

In recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, Fuqua’s PTO will be hosting a special luncheon for teachers. Please return the form sent home with your child if you are able to donate a covered dish or help out that day. Wendy’s will provide sandwiches and salads.

Thursday, May 10 - This will be the last P.A.C. meeting of the year. It will be held in Media Center at

6:00 p.m. and we will honor Mrs. Theresa Klotz.

Third grade classes will be going to Eli Lilly in Clinton to learn more about the medical industry.

Vigo County School Corporation’s “Party on the Pavement” to be held at the Administration Building on Wabash Ave. at 4:30 p.m.!

Friday, May 11 - Mrs. Marrs’ preschool classes will be taking a fun filled trip to Deming Park!!

Spirit Day---Sunglasses Day!!!

Monday, May 14 –– Kindergarten classes will be taking a field trip to Dobb’s Park, the planetarium and to ISU.

Tuesday, May 15 – PTO meeting 6:30-7:00p.m. This will be the last meeting for the 2006/2007school year. We will be holding officer elections at this meeting. If you are interested in holding a position on the PTO board for the 2007/2008 school year, please contact Mrs. Harris before this date. We look forward to seeing you there.

Fourth and fifth grade students will take a field trip to Skate World.

Thursday, May 1 7 - Kindergarten Orientation will be held at 1:00 pm for parents of in-coming kindergarten students.

Friday, May 18 - 5 th Graders will take a trip to the ISU Field Campus. Watch for more information to come home.

Spirit Day- Hawaiian Day!!

Monday, May 21 Second grade classes will be traveling to the Vigo County Public Library.

Tuesday, May 22 – There will be a Strings Concert at 1:00 pm.

Thursday, May 24 – This will be the last day for the Media Center to be open.

Friday, May 25 Mrs. Hughes & Mrs. Caldwell’s second grade classes will be traveling to McCormick’s Creek to meet their pen pals.

Third grade classes will be going to Indianapolis to take in a movie at the IMAX and eat at the City Market.

Monday, May 28 – There will be no school in observance of Memorial Day!!

Tuesday, May 29 – Fifth Grade Farewell ceremony in the gymnasium. Watch for more information to come home.

Wednesday, May 30 – Fuqua’s Field Day!! **Rain Date will be Thursday, May 31 st.**

Thursday, May 31 - We will be honoring our students selected as May Students of the Month at a school wide assembly.

Friday, June 1 – THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!! Students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. No lunch will be served.

REMINDERS:

  • Congratulations! – Mrs. Crouch is Fuqua’s Excellence in Education Award winner for the 2006-2007 school year.
  • As the weather begins to get warmer, please review Fuqua’s Student Dress Code. Shorts should be at least “finger-tip” length. No tank tops, shirts with spaghetti straps, or shirts in which the midriff is visible should be worn. Also please remember NO flip-flop shoes/sandals are to be worn by students.
  • Class lists for the 2007-2008 school year are being prepared and will be posted during the last week of school.
