Mrs. Higgins

Counselor

B.S. Indiana State University

Two Masters Degrees Indiana State University

I am Peggy Higgins. I have been an elementary counselor for the last several years. I started as a fourth grade teacher at Ernie Pyle School in Clinton, Indiana, in 1968. Yes, I do have some of my past students' children now. When I start getting their grandchildren, I'm going to retire. :)

I hold a double masters, one in elementary education and another in elementary counseling. I have taught all grade levels from preschool to a graduate class at Indiana State University. I also hold two endorsements, one in physical education and one in computer literacy.

I grew up in Clinton, Indiana. I went to Sacred Heart Elementary School, Clinton High School and received my degrees from Indiana State. I am married to Jim Higgins. Jim was a professor at I.S.U and is now retired. This is a second marriage for both of us. Together we have four grown children with five beautiful grandchildren.

I wear many hats as an elementary counselor. My counseling program is developmental. This is a program in each grade level that teaches life skills and emotional well being. I also run small groups regarding divorce, behavior, self-esteem, self-control, grief and support. I am also available for any crisis situations. In the 2005-2006 school year I began doing a special program to combat bullying. I hope you have a peaceful year.
