Student Clubs and Activities

5th Grade Strings

5th grade students meet twice a week to learn how to play a stringed instrument. Choices are the violin, viola, cello, and bass.

5th Grade Math Team
Starting in October, students  will meet two times a month on Mondays.  5th grade students compete in the Online Math League against other 5th graders from across the nation and in the Honey Creek Math Contest in March.

4th and 5th grade students represent Lost Creek at the Young Hoosier
Book Award Battle of the Books competition in the spring.

Twelve 5th grade students meet in an after-school club to engage in activities or to sponsor school-wide contests.

Library Helpers

4th and 5th grade students are chosen to help in the library media center with shelving books, creating book displays, and straightening materials.

Roaring Readers Book Club

Roaring Readers Book Club is a 5th grade group who meet after school one day a week to read,discuss,and evaluate high quality intermediate literature. Our group reads and then talks about our reading and other books of interest..

MakerSpace Club

Students in grades 4 and 5 can apply to be a part of the MakerSpace Club.  Students will be able to do activities such as coding, robotics, Legos, puzzles, origami, inventions, STEM and STEAM activities, etc.
Students in grades 2 and 3 can join in the spring.

4th and 5th grade students are elected to represent their classmates in order to complete service projects for the school.

Long Distance Lions The Long Distance Lions are members of the Lost Creek Running Club that are able to run the extra distance.  Students who participate in the long distance group prepare for WVRR's Fall Classic 10k run in the fall and the 5 mile Swamp Stomp in the spring.  Runners conduct runs on the Heritage Trail and at Hawthorne Park on Fridays after school with Mr. Kirchner.
