The Organizational Meeting of the Board of School Trustees of the Vigo County School Corporation was held at the Administration Building, 686 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana on the 14th day of January 2008 at 7:00 P.M.

Ms. Alpa Patel led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Organization of
the Board
Designation of
Temporary Chairperson
Mrs. Lower stated that she would serve as Temporary Chairperson until the President is elected.
Election of
President
Mr. Cox moved that Mrs. Lower be re-elected Board President. Mr. Burks seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Election of
Vice President
Mr. Burks moved that Mr. Lockhart be elected Board Vice President. Ms. Patel seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Election of
Secretary
Mr. Cox moved that Ms. Patel be elected Board Secretary. Mr. Burks seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Election of
Deputy Secretary
Mr. Lockhart moved that Mr. Burks be elected Board Deputy Secretary. Mr. Cox seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously
Appointment of the I.S.B.A. Legislative Liaison Member
Mrs. Lower stated that she would represent the Board as the Indiana School Board Association Legislative Liaison member.
Election of Board of Finance Officers for 2008 &
Summary of Investments for 2007
Mrs. Wilson stated that the IC 5-13-7-6 requires that each local Board of Finance meet annually and that the officers of the Board of School Trustees elected for 2008 be declared the officers of the Board of Finance.
Dr. Minnis moved for approval of the Board of Finance Officers for 2008, and Summary of Investments for 2007. Ms. Patel seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Election of Vigo County School Corporation Treasurer
and Deputy Treasurer
Mr. Tanoos stated that with Board approval he would like to recommend Mrs. Donna Wilson as Treasurer and Mr. Robert Karr as Deputy Treasurer of the Vigo County School Corporation.
Dr. Minnis moved for approval. Mr. Lockhart seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Appointment of School Board Members to Attend Various Committee Meetings
Mrs. Lower asked the committee representatives from last year to give a brief summary of the nature of the committee they were assigned to before appointments were assigned for 2008.
Appointment of Board Member to attend meetings of the
Parent Advisory Council
Ms. Patel volunteered to serve as the Board representative to attend meetings of the Parent Advisory Council.
Appointment of Board Member to attend meetings of the
Superintendent’s Advisory Council
Mr. Burks volunteered to serve as the Board representative to attend meetings of the Superintendents Advisory Council
Appointment of Board Member to attend meetings of the
Superintendent’s Unity Team
Mr. Lockhart volunteered to serve as the Board representative to attend meetings of the Superintendent’s Unity Team.
Appointment of Board Member to attend meetings of the
Board of Directors for the Vigo County Education Foundation
Dr. Minnis volunteered to serve as the Board representative to attend meetings of the Board of Directors for the Vigo County Education Foundation, Inc.
Appointment of Board Member to attend meetings of the
Vocational Advisory Council
Mr. Shike volunteered to serve as the Board representative to attend meetings of the Vocational Advisory Council

Mrs. Wilson presented the proposed calendar of Board Meeting dates for 2008. (See Proceedings)
Mr. Burks moved for approval of the proposed calendar of Board Meeting dates for 2008. Mr. Lockhart seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
