M I N U T E S

 

 

A meeting of the Board of School Trustees of the Vigo County School Corporation was held at the Vigo County School Corporation Administration Building, 686 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana on April 9, 2007, at 7:00 P.M.

 

The following Board Members were present:  Mr. Gene Shike, Mrs. Jackie Lower,

Mr. Guille Cox, Dr. Joseph Minnis, Mr. Paul Lockhart, Ms. Alpa Patel, and

Mr. Mel Burks.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Gene Shike.

 

First Call for Citizens Comments

 

No comments were received.

 

Consent Agenda

 

Mr. Shike moved for approval of the Consent Agenda.  Mr. Burks seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

The following Consent Agenda items were approved:

 

            1.            Minutes – Regular Meeting – March 26, 2007

 

            2.            Professional Leave Requests

 

            3.            Gifts

 

                        a.            DeVaney Elementary School – Monetary donation of $1,500.00

                                    from the Noon Optimist Youth Benefit Grant.

 

                        b.            Chauncey Rose Middle School – Donations from various

                                    Businesses for their Best Behavior/Violence Prevention Program.

 

New Business

 

Personnel Report

 

Mr. Tanoos presented the Personnel Report.

 

Mr. Burks moved for approval of the Personnel Report.  Mr. Lockhart seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Comments/Correspondence/Information

 

Second Call for Citizen Comments

 

Comments were received from Mrs. Lorie Furnis and Mr. Donald Barnett.

 

Information and Proposals from Board Members and Superintendent Tanoos

 

Mr. Tanoos presented a brief overview of meetings and conferences that have taken place during the past two weeks, and noted that on April 19th Pfizer is going to present a very sizable donation to Honey Creek Middle School.  He also commented that on Thursday, April 12th a reception would be held in honor of our business partners.
