M I N U T E S
A meeting of the Board of School Trustees of the Vigo County School Corporation was held at the Administration Building, 686 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana, on the 13th day of March 2006 at 7:00 P.M.
The following Board Members were present: Mrs. Jackie Lower, Mr. Guille Cox, Dr. Joseph Minnis, Mr. Paul Lockhart, Mr. Michael Tom, Mr. Mel Burks, and Mr. Gene Shike.
Pledge of Allegiance
Mr. Dallas Kelsey, Principal at Davis Park Elementary School, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and then welcomed those in attendance to the school.

Mr. Tanoos presented a brief summary of events that took place during the past two weeks.
First Call for Citizen Comments
No comments were received.
Consent Agenda
Mr. Burks moved approval of the Consent Agenda. Dr. Minnis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The following Consent Agenda items were approved:

Mr. Tanoos presented the Personnel Report.
Mr. Burks moved for approval. Mrs. Lower seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Dr. Minnis moved for approval. Mr. Burks seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Comments/Correspondence/Information
Second Call for
Citizen Comments
Comments were received from Mr. Bernard Ridens, Executive Director of the Vigo County Taxpayers Association.
Information and
Proposals from Board Members.
Mr. Burks commented that he believes we must provide a safety net for those students not interested in attending college by preparing them in vocational areas. He also noted that it is his belief this should begin when students are in middle school.
Mr. Cox stated that he supports the objective to make our Vocational Education Program one of he best in the state, but that we must not forget those who are college bound.
Dr. Minnis encouraged Board Members to attend the Indiana School Boards Association meeting that will be held this Tuesday in Terre Haute.
Mrs. Lower reminded those in attendance of the West Vigo High School Vocational Trade Show that will be held March 22nd from 8:30 A.M.–11:00A.M. at the school.
Dr. Minnis commented that the Board had a nice visit to McKensie Vocational Center at Lawrence Township and noted that if would be nice if Vigo County could pattern something like that someday.
Mr. Shike concurred with Dr. Minnis and noted that the advancement in technology is amazing.
