Welcome to our site for Dixie Bee Counselor – Mrs. Monica
R. Tener-Smith.

I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am
married with three children ages 25, 21, and 13 years of age. I have
my mother living with us also. We have pets – cats and a dog. I enjoy
several hobbies such as collecting antiques and Asian artifacts.
I am very involved with my family and church activities. I have traveled
to Tajimi, Japan with the Terre Haute/Tajimi exchange on two occasions. Summer
2004 I traveled to China on a 21 day study tour. I am presently teaching an
East Asian class here at school in our enrichment program. Our youngest child
is a special needs child, so I have a great interest in assisting parents
with their special needs children.

We have developed a peer mediation program through the Peace
Project.. This program is student lead after the training has been established.
The mediators will help students solve their own problems through negotiation/compromise
techniques. Graders are . While the 3rd graders will have the
Thumbody program through our local Mental Health Association. This
program deals with self esteem, the uniqueness and value of each individual.
The Third Graders are developing a powerpoint program called A Book About
Me. Second graders are learning about a No Bullies Program and 1st
graders are learning about I Can Choose which is a decision-makings program.
