Public Hearing
Mr. Thornton stated that Indiana Code 6-1.1-19-8 requires that a school corporation must hold two public hearings to present information on the affect of year round school and year round school scheduling on a proposed building project. Mr. Thornton stated that the Vigo County School Corporation proposes to build three new elementary schools to replace the buildings at Consolidated, Fayette and Franklin because these structures have been deemed inappropriate for school attendance due to the condition of the buildings, not because the buildings were overcrowded.
Mr. Thornton said year round school scheduling would not be of any benefit, or alleviate the need to replace these buildings.
