| Hello all! I have been a
Speech-Language
Pathologist a long time; in children years that would be a very long
time!
Half of those years have been at the “hive”, where I’ve been as busy as
a
bee! I have both Bachelors and Masters degrees from Indiana State University. In addition, I have the Certificate of Clinical Competence from The American Speech and Hearing Association. During most of my years, I have also had student teachers to share new and old ideas to help my students. Every year brings new and interesting challenges for me. Some of my students need help saying certain sounds; others need help speaking with a normal rhythm, volume, rate or resonance. Several students have trouble speaking in complete sentences because it’s hard to remember vocabulary words, verb agreement, pronouns, plurals or possessive forms. Some are confused by word order, or what to say in conversations with others. Understanding language is a problem for some of my friends, so it’s hard to follow their teacher or parent’s directions. Lastly, I have the best job in the world! I spend most of my day listening to the most interesting little people, and hopefully I am helping them to become better communicators. |
